I’m Dongjae “Krystofer” Kim.

Hi! This is Krystofer! Currently, I am a lead motion graphics artist and manager on productions like OSCAR, EMMYs, Grammys and ACM etc.My work centers around empathy. I have been making audiences emotionally connect with a song during a show, helping anyone understand NASA’s profound scientific discoveries that make us inquire about the world around us. I am also invested in enhancing user experiences of someone like elderlies with limited point of reference on technology and people in of need more accessibility to navigate technology and make the most out of current technology. Designing something impactful that makes differences in the world is what animates me. I am an versatile artist, a designer, and a problem solver equipped with diverse skill sets and background from Fine Arts, Graphic Design to Animation, CG and Design Research with a bit of frontend development skills. I pride in the fact that my portfolio is never a stagnant same old body of work but always new and evolving even to other visual styles and areas of design. I see that that’s the only way to grow and learn more new things and stay truly creative. With no art background in Korea, I came to United States to a small community college in North Carolina to be a business major for a day and …discreetly switched to Fine Arts major to pursue my creative American dream. I ended up transferring to Parsons Design School in New York City as a Design and Technology major where I learned to paint, sketch, design websites, code, build robots and experiment with my creative freedom. After the graduation, I worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as a part of CILab team where I learned to communicate and work with diverse group of engineers and scientists, while creating Stage motion graphics for Allucinari in Los Angeles, CA for various fast-paced Award shows (Grammy, OSCAR, People’s Choice Awards, CMA…), Las Vegas shows and tour concerts for artists. With these experience, I wanted to pivot to where my design impacts the world in more tactile, and everyday-functions. So, I became Design Leadership Alumnus (MBA from Johns Hopkins and MA from Maryland Institute College of Art) where I immersed myself in UX research and UI prototyping. I want to be designing things that is imbued with and spreads empathy. At the end of the day, I want everyone or any one person to easily utilize everything that technology can offer today.
*I have O1b Visa for work in U.S.
